Cyberdog: Xiaomi’s open source robot

Xiaomi has introduced Cyberdog , an open source robot controlled by voice commands. Cyberdog costs $ 1,500 and is controlled by NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX, a mini supercomputer for robots.

The robot weighing about 3 kg is able to move at a speed of 11 km/h on flat surfaces and stairs, as well as perform backflips, follow the owner and give a paw. Cyberdog is equipped with cameras, microphones, a touchpad, GPS and other sensors that allow it to navigate in space and respond to voice commands. The hardware can also be supplemented with USB-C and HDMI ports. Additional light sources, cameras and other equipment can be integrated into Cyberdog. The same applies to the software-Xiaomi has posted the source code of the robot in open access.

Cyberdog is similar to the similar Spot robot from Boston Dynamics. Currently, Spot is used for tasks such as mine clearance and telemedicine, but its price of $ 74,500 makes it inaccessible to ordinary consumers. Xiaomi will sell the first 1,000 released Cyberdogs for $ 1,540. Xiaomi claims that Cyberdog is designed for robotics enthusiasts, engineers and Xiaomi fans. It is assumed that as the robot improves due to the development of new software by enthusiasts, it will become more expensive.

The brain of Cyberdog is the NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX platform, a supercomputer with AI for peripheral devices, which consists of 384 GPUs, 48 tensor cores, a 6-core Carmel ARM processor and two NVDLA engines.
